This longstanding insurance broking and financial advisory group has a terrific reputation across Yorkshire, and in many cases, even further afield. Customers range from regular families who pop into the office as they prefer a traditional service rather than buying cover online, through to mid-net worth individuals from the worlds of business, academia and the professions, as well as the family offices of high net worth clients who own large estates and art collections.

Here, you will manage the ongoing servicing of a portfolio of clients, building a friendly yet professional rapport with them. You will review their circumstances and ensure that they are adequately covered, and also make sure you are at the forefront of their mind should they need additional insurance mid-term; for example, an unexpected holiday or purchase of jewellery. You will differentiate yourself from the competition by delivering a first-class service, as well as providing access to specialist Underwriters. Of course, this unrivalled service will become self-evident in the event of a loss, and you will ‘hold their hand’ throughout the life cycle of any claims. You will also get the opportunity to visit your clients in person, on occasion. It’s worth pointing out that the focus of this role is very much centred on the ongoing service of existing business and there’s no sales targets.

It is essential that you are well spoken, articulate and can get on well with people from all walks of life, whether it be an elderly couple who don’t trust online insurance aggregators, through to some of Yorkshire’s best-known families. As you would expect, many of these people are very busy and with high expectations, so you must be comfortable dealing with a demanding clientele and pride yourself on your attention to detail and ability to get all tasks right first time. As you would expect, you must have a sound understanding of the principals of insurance, relevant experience (gained in broking, underwriting or claims), and ideally knowledge of the full suite of personal lines products.
