This is a superb opportunity to join a market-leading Private Equity & Corporate Acquisitions Practice of a highly successful global broker. This entrepreneurial firm has achieved a decade of double-digit growth, globally, nationally and in Manchester office, and with revenues approaching £2Bn is now recognised as the world’s largest independent broker.

This division’s client portfolio comprises many of the UK’s most prestigious private equity companies; well-known financial institutions that are working on some of the largest, most complex and high profile corporate acquisitions. These PE companies call upon this broker’s talented team to provide pre-acquisition due diligence in respect of:

Evaluation of target companies existing and historical insurance programmes to determine if the arrangements are appropriate, or if additional coverages should be considered following acquisition.

- Identifying risk and insurance related-issues that may impact transactions.

- Providing estimated annual cost of risk for a target company’s insurance programme following completion, and providing a comparison of such against prior year costs.
- Identifying current insurance-related outstanding liabilities.

This is a fast-paced and diverse, client-facing position, where you will you will demonstrate a combination of technical insurance knowledge and stakeholder management skills. You will use your business acumen and communication skills to develop rapport with clients and build a deal-specific understanding of each project’s requirements. For example, you must be able to scrutinise prospects’ existing insurance programmes and identify potential gaps in cover that could cause issues for the PE firms, post-acquisition. Where gaps in cover exist, you should be able suggest solutions to mitigate these in line with the PE firms’ individual appetite for carrying risk themselves. You will be aided in this by the support of a global network of colleagues from “sector specialist teams” (such as the Power, Real Estate and Aviation Divisions), who can advise on the nuances of each industry that the PE firms are dealing in.

Experience of working in a project management or due diligence capacity is by no means essential, but you must have a sound understanding of all common commercial covers. You should also be professional, polished and confident in your approach in order to secure the buy-in of senior Private Equity professionals. You must also have a natural curiosity for business and derive great satisfaction from building a deep understanding of the complexities of different organisations.

Our client has recently moved to new, state-of-the-art offices, which are an easy walk from Piccadilly station. The company has committed to flexible working patterns, post pandemic, so you can be based anywhere in the North of England as long as you can get to the office occasionally.
You will receive a highly competitive basic salary and a very generous benefits package, including support towards professional qualifications. As this broker is a big believer in ‘promoting from within’, you will also benefit from a myriad of opportunities for progression in the short, medium and long-term.
