Due to record growth over recent years, the need has arisen for an extra ‘safe pair of hands’ to join the team in a senior capacity. Here, the focus is very much on the management of a longstanding portfolio of middle-market and corporate accounts. Once you have developed a detailed understanding of your clients, their businesses and the risks that they face, you will be encouraged to grow the account organically – cross-selling additional services and lines to ensure any gaps in cover are mitigated. You will also be supported to win new business, benefitting from an inhouse telesales function and sophisticated marketing department. It is worth stressing that this is not a new business-orientated role, and the CEO is one of the most pragmatic leaders in the insurance industry – knowing exactly how counter-productive punitive sales targets can be.
It is essential that you have a detailed knowledge of all common commercial covers and experience of dealing with cases generating at least £10K in commission or fee income. You should be au fait with the requirements of clients from a range of industry sectors, both blue and white collar. You must be a team player who can work to shared goals and objectives, and be comfortable tasking the Corporate Brokers / Handlers (some of the most gifted in the Manchester market) and advise them on broking / placement strategy on occasion.
