A rare and exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated, driven and upwardly-mobile individual to take the reins of an established, successful and driven team of Underwriters operating in the Cargo, Freight Forwarders and associated Haulage sector. As Head of this team of 8, your role will carry a wide range of responsibilities, where you’ll be able to fully implement your Leadership, Management, Technical Underwriting and Relationship Management skills.
You’ll obviously be able to demonstrate proven technical expertise in this field and will have “held the pen” with significant underwriting authority in previous positions. As Team Manager, you’ll lead your team of Underwriters via a matrix structure and will be available for technical referrals and advice, when required. Additionally, you’ll have your own underwriting authority and caseload too. Further to the technical responsibilities of this outstanding role, you’ll be working closely with both Brokers and Carriers, and so you’ll be comfortable developing strong working relationships in client-facing scenarios. Finally, you’ll also be part of Management Team and will play an integral part of the overall development of this highly-respected MGA.
The office report is in Cambridge and this is supported by a regional branch network. Our client is happy to support those wishing to work remotely from home, but there will be an expectation to come into the office, on average, twice a week. With Cambridge being easily accessible from all over East Anglia and from London Mainline railway stations, this opens up a potential pool of candidates from far and wide. Flexible-working is actively encouraged and supported, so location, within reason, won’t be a barrier towards consideration and ultimately career progression.
This is a live, immediate opportunity and would be suitable for Syndicate, Company or MGA trained Senior Underwriters who are keen to progress into a true Team Leader role, where they will benefit from autonomy, outstanding products, unrivalled distribution and the great trust from market capacity to drive this account forward. It’s key that you are able to demonstrate proven technical experience from within the Cargo/Freight Forwarders sector and additional knowledge of the Fleet/ Haulage markets would be most advantageous.
