This independent chain operates a distinctive collection of six award-winning hotels situated in the most beautiful surroundings of the Lake District, from luxury 4-star Lake District hotels on the shores of Lake Ullswater and Derwentwater Lake, to traditional coaching inns and hotels in Keswick. This family-run firm is recognised across the Lakes and beyond for the warmth of its welcome, unrivalled personal attention and excellent service.

All with modern, well-appointed rooms and facilities, it is understandable why so many guests return time and again to these hotels in the beautiful Lake District. The company has recently invested significantly in the local economy with the construction of a state of art spa, complete with treatment rooms, a 4 person Rasul Chamber and stylish Champagne Bar!

This Group Financial Controller role supports the Directors and management team with financial analysis and advice, to inform sound business decisions. This is a fast-moving, dynamic operation requiring an energetic, commercially-focussed ACA / ACCA / CIMA qualified Financial Controller who is able to develop the finance team, improve existing reporting systems/ control procedures and communicate effectively at all levels of the business.

There is potentially financial support in place for outstanding candidates who wish to relocate to the Lakes for this opportunity.

With the support of the finance team, this role encompasses:

• Preparing the monthly management accounts pack for the individual trading businesses and the company as a whole.
• Supervising company compliance with VAT, payroll and associated statutory obligations.
• Liaising with the company auditors to enable year end compliance.
• Establishing connection with all teams to ensure finance plays a key role in decision-making.
• Supporting all teams by providing transparent information and commentary. Driving financial awareness across the group.
• Continuously monitoring costs, finding areas for improvement.
• Reporting to both Directors and the Operations Manager.
• Having a proactive attitude towards process improvement, initiating actions to improve operational efficiency, highlighting the need to update internal processes and controls across the business.
• Providing rigorous financial oversight to ensure the highest standards of regulatory compliance through robust policies, processes, protocols and authorisations.
• Managing, motivating and developing a team of financial support staff to fulfil the analysis, monitoring and reporting needs.
• Assisting other teams with resolving financial issues.
• Other ad hoc duties where appropriate.
About you:
• Experience as a Group Financial Controller or similar position.
• 5+ years of overall combined accounting and finance experience.
• ACCA/ACA/CIMA qualified.
• Experience working within the Hospitality industry is desirable.
• Resilient and able to meet targets in a pressured environment.
• Good communication skills.
• Capability to work in a fast paced/high change business.
• Excellent time management skills.
