As a Corporate Account Handler, you will start to assume the day-to-day management of a portfolio of accounts from a variety of industry sectors. As you develop knowledge of a range of commercial covers (such as Employers’ Liability, Business Interruption or Contractors’ All Risks), you will ensure that your clients’ insurance programmes reflect their exposure to risk. You will deal with renewals, mid-term amendments to cover, and be responsible for preparing a variety of reports and documentation in a timely fashion. As you may expect, you will be responsible for building relationships with Underwriters at a variety of insurance companies, and negotiating with them to secure your clients comprehensive cover at competitive premiums. You will also be expected to ensure that all your duties are carried out in accordance with FCA rules and regulations.
The Directors in question pride themselves on the service they offer their clients and, accordingly, are quite demanding in terms of the quality of work they expect from their Account Handler. As such, you must be meticulous in your approach and have a keen eye for detail. You should be highly numerate, with excellent communication skills (written and verbal), and you’ll be comfortable dealing with a variety of software packages (in particular, Excel).
