The firm seeks an experienced insurance professional to join its North Shropshire office in a senior capacity, where you will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the office. Rather than holding budgetary / P&L responsibility, you will be allocating workloads, dealing with recruitment and HR issues, holding 1-2-1’s, checking the quality of colleagues’ work, and acting as a technical referral point.
In addition, you will be responsible for managing your own portfolio of accounts; dealing with mid-term amendments, preparing renewals, marketing risks, undertaking policy administration and dealing with any general enquiries. You will scrutinise your clients’ existing insurance programmes, identify potential gaps in cover and, where appropriate, make recommendations to mitigate these. You will also negotiate with Underwriters to ensure your clients achieve the most comprehensive cover at competitive premiums.
It is not essential that you have previously worked in a managerial capacity, but it is expected that you will have held more senior positions within teams (i.e. helping less-experienced colleagues, or deputising in the absence of the line manager). Ideally, you will have a sound understanding of both commercial and agricultural insurance, although we do welcome applications from candidates who have good knowledge of just one of these disciplines. You must be a team player, well-organised and have excellent communications skills. Whilst not essential, progress towards professional qualifications would add weight to your application.
