Following a sustained period of growth, one of the world’s best known insurance brokers is seeking to appoint several Account Executives across Wales and South West England. This forward-thinking broking house is a big advocate of flexible-working and only requires that you attend an office (it has a presence in a number of locations across the region) for team meetings every couple of weeks. As such, this role will appeal to candidates from across a wide area.

This broker’s phenomenal results in the region are driven by both organic growth of the existing portfolio, coupled with the continued acquisition of quality new accounts. As a result, the company is seeking experienced insurance professionals to inherit sizeable portfolios. Boasting such a diverse range of clients across a broad region (from accounts in Bristol’s thriving professions community, through to agricultural clients in the South West Peninsular and risks from the industrial heart lands of South Wales), you can be allocated a portfolio that reflects your skills, experience and ambitions. For example, if you tend to gravitate towards blue or white collar risks, your book can be tweaked accordingly. Similarly, the total size of the portfolio and complexity of individual accounts can be accommodated to your own situation, meaning seasoned Account Executives can inherit portfolios generating in excess of £500K income comprising complex and global business, or Account Handlers looking to make their first move into an Account Executive style role can be gifted smaller, less-challenging clients.

The focus here will be very much on the management of existing business, although for those who wish to do new business, or can transfer their old portfolio (upon completion of their covenant), there is the chance to earn a lucrative bonus. You will benefit from a warm handover from the current Account Executive, and develop a deep understanding of your clients’ businesses. With support from a dedicated team of Brokers, you’ll ensure that their insurance programmes adequately reduce their exposure to risks. Where gaps in cover exist, you will suggest innovative solutions to mitigate these. You will also prepare an array of documentation and take the lead in the renewal process. As you would expect, you be responsible for negotiating with insurers to secure your clients the most comprehensive cover at competitive premiums.

Whilst we welcome applicants from all levels of experience (from veteran Corporate Account Executives through to those looking to assume client-facing duties for the first time), it is essential that you have experience within commercial insurance, together with a knowledge of all common commercial covers such as Property, Liability, Fleet and Financial Lines. You must pride yourself on being an excellent communicator who can secure the ‘buy in’ of clients and colleagues alike, and also put together an array of professional reports and documentation. You must be well-organised, diligent and have good task management skills. You’ll also be a team player who enjoys working to shared goals and objectives.
