A high-profile insurance MGA seeks a talented Underwriting Team Leader / Manager to oversee a successful division of technical Underwriters.

This MGA is owned by one of the most successful insurance brokers on the planet, and as such, it boasts phenomenal financial security, robust infrastructure, incredible technical expertise, and enviable distribution channels.

You’ll be overseeing a team of 7 Underwriters, with responsibility for managing workloads and ensuring that service levels are achieved. You will also facilitate staff’s training and development, utilising this company’s comprehensive resources. As a senior member of the division, you’ll be part of the MGA’s wider Management Team and will play an integral part of the overall development of this highly-respected operation.

The focus of this team is on Cargo, Freight and Haulage. However, as the Underwriters are all technically-competent, they will not be leaning on you from a technical point of view - you will be there to ‘steer the ship’ and ensure the ongoing success of an efficient underwriting team.

Because technical expertise comes secondary to leadership experience here, we will consider candidates from a range of insurance backgrounds including Underwriting, Broking and Claims. Some basic understanding of Cargo / Freight/ Marine / Haulage would certainly be advantageous, although this is not essential. As a minimum, you must have experience of operating in a technical, commercial underwriting environment. Just as importantly, you’ll be an inspirational leader, approachable, empathetic, and genuinely passionate about managing and developing a high-performing team.

The team are based in the Cambridgeshire area, however, the company is very much open to remote-workers, who are able to attend the office, perhaps a couple of times a week. As such, this opportunity is available to talented Team Managers throughout most of the UK.
