This newly-created Senior Business Development Manager position has arisen with one of the UK’s leading commercial insurance organisations.

As Senior Business Development Manager, you’ll be responsible for promoting the organisation’s MGA offering to commercial intermediaries, and with its comprehensive range of products, you’ll be able to cater for almost any commercial insurance requirement.
As a business that is constantly evolving, this senior position has been created to bring real focus to the MGA’s sales function in order to maximise penetration amongst the broker market. Being the giant that it has become, the company benefits from many broker relationships, and it is now looking for a Senior BDM who can turn these relationships into highly profitable, long-term partnerships.
We are looking for a strategic and commercially-savvy business developer who can really hone in on where best to focus efforts, via broker profiling, segmentation and territory planning. As such, whilst this role will indeed have a small element of account management, the focus here is very much on sales via the development of existing relationships, as well as the creation of profitable new agencies.
We are not looking for a technical Underwriter here, although you must have a reasonable understanding of the main commercial covers; namely Commercial Combined/ Property and Liability. Crucially, you must be driven, a self-starter, and have well-honed client-facing and presentation skills. You’ll be well-networked in the broker community and structured in relation to how you prospect and organise your appointments. Whilst inevitably, there will be times when video calls are appropriate, you’ll be keen to get out into the market and meet with intermediaries, face to face.
A major selling point of this role is that for the right candidate, there is a clear route to management. With this being a newly-created sales division, it is envisioned that this position will ultimately develop into a Sales Manager / Director position, with responsibility for leading the overall team.

You’ll be rewarded with a basic salary of up to £70K, plus performance-related bonus and a range of company benefits.
