As such, in this key role, the company welcomes applications from seasoned insurance professionals currently serving in a similar role, Account Executives servicing commercial & middle market business who wish to deal with more complex business, as well as Corporate Account Handlers who are ready to undertake more client-facing duties.

Here, you will assume control of a longstanding portfolio of clients that will be allocated depending on your skills, experience and ambitions. For example, experienced Corporate Account Executives could potentially inherit an account generating revenue of circa £1M (including global clients), with individual risks paying fees of six figures, whereas Commercial Account Exec’s or Corporate Account Handlers would likely assume control of a smaller portfolio comprising less-complex risks. Similarly, the branch deals with clients from a wide range of industry sectors such as Construction, Haulage, Life Sciences and Technology, so your portfolio can be tweaked to accommodate any areas of interest of specialism.

As Account Executive, you will work with a talented Team of Account Handlers and be responsible for the management of your portfolio. This includes overseeing the renewal process, negotiating with insurers to obtain the most comprehensive cover at competitive premiums, and scrutinising clients’ business activities to ensure that all risks are adequately mitigated. You will also identify opportunities to cross and up-sell ancillary covers by promoting the services of colleagues from other areas of the business (such as Credit Insurance or Employee Benefits).

It is essential that you have had relevant experience gained from within a commercial insurance environment and, for those candidates who have not previously been an Account Executive, you will have dealt with corporate risks (and ideally some global business too).

You must demonstrate an ability to deal with complex business, including sophisticated buyers who are often less focused on price than in the SME market. You should also have first-class communication skills, with the ability to produce a variety of informative and accurate reports.
