This MGA has an enviable panel of brokers throughout the whole of the UK, and given its business model, it enjoys a great deal of loyalty from them.
This is a very well-established and financially-secure Managing General Agent, which is supported by AA rated insurers. As such, this is a firm where Underwriters can enjoy a very stable, rewarding and long-term career.
This company predominantly transacts Commercial Combined, Combined Liabilities and Construction Liabilities, and it is well-known for the quality of its products, as well as the formidable service and technical expertise of its underwriting team.
As a New Business Underwriter, you will be tasked with strengthening existing broker relationships, from which you will write profitable new cases. You will attend face to face broker visits, as well as conducting video calls, in order to really get to know your panel and fully exploit opportunities. Whilst you’ll be working for an MGA, you’ll still have a great deal of manual underwriting authority, which members of this team seem to particularly enjoy.
Ideally, you will have experience of underwriting all of the above classes of business (Property / Combined / Liabilities and Construction), although if you lack experience in certain areas, training and mentoring can be provided by highly specialist Senior Underwriters within the team.
Crucially, you will be passionate about winning business, whilst displaying a conscientious approach to achieving profitable underwriting results. We are looking for someone who is proactive when it comes to finding ways to write profitable business, as opposed to finding reasons to decline it!
