There can be few better places to forge a fascinating and rewarding career within claims than the regional ‘Claims Centre of Excellence’ of this prestigious global insurance broker. Here, based out of state-of-the-art offices, a highly professional team of Claims Handlers are representing the interests of some of Yorkshire’s largest privately-owned and publicly-listed businesses spanning such industries as Construction, Manufacturing and Retail.

This firm is well-known for promoting from within, and many candidates have joined in similar roles and gone onto be highly successful in other roles within claims or commercial broking, within the group, both locally and nationally.

As Motor Claims Handler, you will be managing your own caseload of files on a cradle to grave basis. Initially, you will be dealing with a range of Motor claims, but as your experience grows, you will gain the opportunity to deal with other commercial losses such as Employer’s & Public Liability and Property claims.

You will manage relationships with your clients throughout the claim lifecycle, using your questioning skills and natural curiosity to establish the facts surrounding any losses and relaying these professionally and accurately to insurers to obtain the best settlement. Where necessary, you will negotiate, using your knowledge of policy wordings, to secure best possible payment for potentially contentious claims. You will also deal with a wide range of other stakeholders, such as Loss Adjusters and Engineers. You will be expected to keep accurate records, update the Motor Insurers’ Bureau database, and produce management information and claims data for colleagues. Needless to say, all work must be carried out in a fashion that complies with inhouse protocols and FCA regulations.

It is essential that you have some kind of Motor claims knowledge (PI, Uninsured Loss Recovery, Fast / Multitrack etc), and we welcome applications from candidates who have worked for brokers, insurers, accident / claims management or legal firms.

You must have excellent communication skills, and be able to build a professional rapport with your clients, with compassion, empathy and professionalism of the utmost importance given that they will have recently made an insurance claim. This should include being able to articulate complex insurance information and policy details in laymen’s terms. You must have good IT skills too, in order to effectively use the inhouse systems and Microsoft Office products (particularly Excel).

This firm is a big advocate of flexible-working, and you will only need to come into the office (just off the M62 near Morley), once or twice a week.
In return, you will receive a generous basic salary, together with one of the most comprehensive flexible-benefits packages in the market (including a fantastic pension) that can be tweaked to fit your personal circumstances. You will also receive support towards professional qualifications under the CILA and CII.
