This is a superb opportunity for an experienced Account Executive to inherit a substantial portfolio of corporate business, including some ‘trophy accounts’ pertaining to some of the North’s best-known, privately-owned and publicly-listed businesses.

The portfolio can be tweaked to reflect areas of experience, interest and expertise, but is likely to comprise clients from a range of industry sectors such as Retail, Food & Beverage, Construction and Healthcare; some of which are very well-known nationally with turnovers well over of £500M.

There could well be some smaller but equally challenging cases, however as this branch’s ‘bread and butter’ accounts sit around the £50K fee income mark, and you’ll be joining the team in a senior capacity, you can expect your portfolio to be far in excess of this. As you would expect, many of these accounts have overseas operations leading to complex global exposures. There are also a small number of reverse-flow accounts handled by the branch.

The focus on this role is very much on the management of an existing portfolio of clients rather than business development, although it is hoped you would try to capitalise on opportunities as and when they present themselves, or grow the account through cross-selling ancillary services.

Working in a dedicated team of Corporate Account Executives, you will provide a high-level service to your own dedicated portfolio of clients. You will benefit from the assistance of a team of Corporate Account Handlers, Brokers and Claims Executives, who will allow you to focus on the more challenging aspects of controlling the portfolio, such as overseeing renewals and managing C-Suite relationships.

It is essential that you have experience of working as an Account Executive. Whilst this need not extend to previously managing clients with six-figure fees, it is essential that you have dealt with some larger clients. Similarly, some exposure to dealing with global or reverse-flow accounts would be advantageous, but this is by no means essential for those candidates who can demonstrate the enthusiasm and ability to deal with more complex risks.

You must be a polished communicator who is able to secure ‘buy in’ from corporate clients from a variety of sectors. You must also have a sound understanding of all common commercial covers. Ideally, you will have made progress towards professional qualifications under the CII, although we welcome applications from outstanding candidates who have chosen not to pursue these.

Our client is based in Leeds city centre and offers a flexible-working arrangement. It encourages Account Executives to work from home, or the office, as they see fit - only checking into branch once or twice a week or so. As such, this role will suit candidates from across Yorkshire.

As well as a generous basic salary (negotiable to circa £75K, depending on experience), for outstanding candidates, there is also potentially a sign on bonus.
