Aston Charles has been retained by a leading charity to assist in the appointment of an ‘in house’ Insurance Manager to join the Group Head Office in a senior position.
This charity has been serving various communities for over 50 years, and now has a presence across the whole of the UK. Its services are called upon daily by over 30,000 beneficiaries, people whose lives would be remarkably different without the charities support and assistance.
As one would expect from such a large organisation, the charity has a complex arrangement of insurances spanning all commercial covers, although it’s fair to say that the programme has a significant exposure to Property orientated risks.
You will oversee the provision of insurance solutions to the whole of the charity, including the management and co-ordination of the groups insurance programme. This will include the management of external service providers, including orchestrating the broker tender processes and negotiating with insurers over the purchased insurance.
You will also take a proactive approach in mitigating the charities exposure to risk. Alongside managing the insurance programme, you will help nurture a culture of continuous improvements across the organisation; providing professional advice on complex issues, legislative and policy developments and sharing risk management best practice with all colleagues and other stakeholders.
Creating a robust claims management function, you will collate accurate and relevant management information to identify claims trends, track volume of claims made against the charity and track potential fraudulent activity. You must also be able to advise Senior Management on the best course of action (i.e. negotiated settlement or court action) for complex, high value or contentious claims. You will also be responsible for authorising payments of claims made against the company, within the parameters of the scheme delegation.
It is essential that you have a strong track record of working within the insurance industry, knowledge of all common commercial covers with a particular affinity for Property led risks.
Whilst by no means essential, progress made towards professional qualifications would add significant weight to your application.
You must be a polished communicator that can build professional rapport with all internal and external stakeholders (colleagues, insurance underwriters, the charities patrons and beneficiaries).
Solid IT skills will be necessary in order to build spreadsheets, collate claims data and produce a variety of reports.
