A prestigious global seeks a heavy-weight broker to join its Leeds city centre office in a senior capacity.

Of all the globals in Leeds, this brokerage is one of the longest established in the region and now controls the largest branch-wide portfolio in the city. Its client list is the envy of many competing brokers, comprising numerous six figure income cases, including global outward risks pertaining to some of the area’s best known companies.

The Leeds office controls clients from a wide range of industry sectors, and doesn’t tend to focus on those clients who generate less than £25K fee income, with the majority paying well in excess of this. With the above in mind, this represents a fantastic opportunity for a high calibre Corporate Account Handler or Broker to assume a key part in the management of a challenging portfolio of accounts.

You will work alongside a less experienced Handler, who will administer many of the more mundane tasks, and a Broking Manager, who is typically involved in the placement of risks and overseeing the day to day management of the wider Broking Team. Although there are no managerial responsibilities per se, as a senior member of the team, you may be expected to act as a technical referral point and mentor less experienced colleagues on an ad-hoc basis. It is anticipated that the individual clients you will handle with generate fees between £30K-100K.

Given the complex nature of the risks, you will be negotiating with insurers, both locally and in the city, as well as engaging colleagues from specialist divisions across the country and, where appropriate, overseas. You will also work very closely with Corporate Account Executives and Directors, which will include visiting clients on site.

Our client is rightly proud of the training and development on offer to its staff, so it is not essential that you have previously dealt with mega corporate accounts. However, extensive experience of commercial broking, and a detailed knowledge of all commercial insurance products, is a pre-requisite. Knowledge of handling global-outward clients would certainly be advantageous, as would significant progress made towards professional qualifications.

In return, you can expect a highly competitive basic salary and benefits package, and an array of challenging career opportunities, both locally, or at other offices. Indeed, former members of this team are now working from offices across the globe! You will also receive support towards obtaining professional qualifications and benefit from joining an extremely comprehensive in-house training programme.
