This is an excellent opportunity for a relatively junior insurance professional to further their career by joining a national brokerage.

Our client is proud of its reputation for the quality of its training and development that is on offer to all its staff. This includes a bespoke personal development plan and support towards professional qualifications under the CII.

Due to the retirement of an incumbent member of the broking unit, and subsequent promotion of another colleague, the need has arisen to appoint an additional Account Handler.

It is anticipated that your workload will be geared 70/20/10 in favour of personal lines over commercial and equine & rural covers. Your personal lines workload will typically be Household and Motor covers, and your commercial clients will chiefly be from the SME market, such as Shops, Offices and Tradespeople, each generating sub £2.5K premiums. You may be asked to deal with some rural insurance policies, however this will just be on the odd occasions such as in the absence of your colleagues (holidays, sickness etc.) and won’t be part of your main duties.

You will predominantly be dealing with clients over the phone and via email, although you will get the option to undertake some client facing duties such as attending auctions and meeting clients. Accounts will be broked traditionally by negotiating with Underwriters, and also through e-trading systems.

It is essential that you have a sound knowledge of the personal lines market, however some exposure to SME commercial or agricultural risks would add significant value to your application. Equally, whilst by no means a ‘deal breaker’, a passion for horses, or a knowledge of issues affecting people who live/ work in the countryside would also add weight to your application.

In return for your commitment and hard work, you can expect to receive a basic salary of up circa £20K (may be flexible depending on your experience) and company benefits. This is a great opportunity to join a national brokerage, which truly focuses on customer satisfaction and employee development.
