Of all the globals in Leeds, this brokerage is one of the longest established in the region and now controls the largest branch-wide portfolio in the city. Its client list is the envy of many competing brokers, comprising numerous six figure income cases, including blue chip household names.

The Leeds office controls clients from a wide range of industry sectors, and doesn’t tend to focus on those clients who generate less than £25K fee income, with the majority paying well in excess of this. Many of its clients have extensive global exposures, including both UK domiciled and reverse flow business.

This role has come about as part of an exciting restructure following an internal promotion; evidence of this firm’s culture of promoting from within. You will join the team in a senior capacity, and assume control of a predefined allocation of corporate clients. Here, you will act as the main point of contact for many aspects of clients’ insurance programmes, as well as helping on the technical broking element of accounts within the wider branch’s portfolio – this will include defending accounts under attack from competing brokers, and dealing with any complex issues arising with key accounts. There will be a particular focus on the placement of new business cases that will be presented to you by colleagues in the Corporate New Business Team. In short, whenever technical broking expertise and gravitas within the market is required, you may be called upon.

Whilst Account Executives and Directors will undertake the majority of visits, this is a client facing role where you will get the opportunity to visit some truly fascinating businesses in order to gain a better understanding of their organisation, and to build rapport.

There are no managerial responsibilities associated with this position, but as a senior member of the team, you will assist with the training and development of less experienced colleagues, and act as a technical referral point on an ad-hoc basis.

Our client is rightly proud of the training and development on offer to its staff, so it is not essential that you have previously dealt with mega corporate accounts. However, you must be a solid negotiator with strong market relationships and knowledge of different Underwriters’ appetites for specific risks. As one would expect, a detailed understanding of all common commercial covers is a prerequisite. Knowledge of handling global-outward clients would certainly be advantageous, as would significant progress made towards professional qualifications.

In return, you can expect a highly competitive basic salary and benefits package, and an array of challenging career opportunities, both locally, or at other offices. Indeed, former members of this team are now working from offices across the globe! You will also receive support towards obtaining professional qualifications, and benefit from joining an extremely comprehensive in-house training programme.
