Our client is looking to appoint two Underwriters within its expanding Leeds operation to specialise in Casualty risks.
Initially, you will work within a team of three, where you will focus on predominantly CAR/ Construction cases for businesses with turnovers up to £10m. Although these aren’t exactly Corporate level risks, they will be technically challenging, as you will be dealing with high-risk Liability cases which will require more of a traditional underwriting approach. With the exception of some reinsurance exclusions, you will be given freedom to write the risks that you want, whilst working with a team to create and develop the Underwriting Strategy. You will also manage and develop your broker panel, with the aim of being known as a true specialist in the market.
You must have solid experience within commercial underwriting, ideally from a Liability background. Applicants from a more general underwriting background that deal with some Liability risks, who are keen to specialise in this area, are also very much of interest. It is essential that you have a ‘trading mentality’ and that you are someone who proactively finds a reason to write business, as opposed to declining it. You must also be proactive, ambitious and focused on being the best you can be.
