A leading global provider of commercial insurance is looking for a talented and experienced Portfolio Underwriter/ Manager to join its fast-paced SME Division.

This leading composite is well known for working flexibly with its partners in order to write business. More specifically, its SME Division is renowned for its dynamic and collaborative working environment. Here, a team of highly talented professionals work hard to deliver innovative solutions. By utilising the most cutting-edge technologies, some of which have been developed in house, it is fair to say that the SME Division is several steps ahead of the competition. Its focus on next generation underwriting techniques means it can underwrite with much clearer vision, and achieve loss ratios that are the envy of its competitors.

This is a high-profile role, where you will report directly to the Chief Underwriting Officer and be expected to regularly report to the wider UK Board. As such, your success will be visible to some of the most impressive insurance professionals in the country. Your targets will be centred around the profitability of the account, as well as its top line growth and how you can assist the Innovation Team in developing new trading techniques. We welcome applications from those candidates who can facilitate introductions to aggregators, e-brokers or more traditional intermediaries who may be looking to block transfer portfolios or schemes of SME business.

This will be achieved by reviewing and analysing the performance of the various trading platforms that the business transacts through, and making amendments to product specifications, or the pricing, in line with the company’s underwriting appetite.

It is an essential requirement of the role that you have previous experience of analysing and making strategic decisions on SME portfolios. You need to be a self-starter, who is approachable and comfortable liaising with a number of internal and external teams.

In return, you will receive a generous basic salary, bonus and significant benefits package. The company is committed to investing in its people in order for them to reach their maximum potential, and rewards them accordingly. This opportunity within this major insurer is certainly ‘in the spotlight’, and one where your successes and efforts will not go unnoticed.

Whilst we are ideally seeking a candidate to start in the coming weeks, our client is prepared to wait for outstanding candidates.
