Regional Business Development Manager – New Branch

A major name in the UK insurance industry is seeking to open its first branch in the North of England.

As the first employee of the new branch, you will play key part in the development of this business in the North, including setting future strategy and direction of the business. Equally, this is a highly visible position where your success will be immediately obvious to colleagues at Head Office.

Our client is a well-known insurance firm that has been trading for several generations and has an impressive string of awards and plaudits to its name. It is the recognised broker of choice for a dozen well known Governing Bodies / Trade Associations from a variety of industry sectors, both blue and white collar. Whilst it does not have a physical office presence in the North of England, it already has a vast number of clients across the north of England.

Aston Charles has been retained to source a Regional Business Development Manager to take lead of our client’s operations in the north, and is seeking applications from high calibre candidates across the region. Initially, you will be working somewhat independently, but it is envisioned that over the course of 2018, you will build up a further team of Account Executives and Brokers and assume duties more akin to that of a Branch Manager.

You will be tasked with managing and developing a portfolio of clients comprising SME, commercial or mid-market accounts from a range of industry sectors. Our client boasts a phenomenal marketing machine to aid you in your endeavours, including an in-house lead generation team, sophisticated prospecting / CRM systems, state of the art search engine optimisation tools, and an abundance of warm leads from the Governing and Trade Associations it has partnered with. You will also benefit from a high level of broking support and a robust back-office infrastructure, initially provided at HQ, but you may choose to appoint staff locally as the northern team grows.

You will be granted a great deal of autonomy in this role, and as such, you must be a disciplined self-starter who can deliver great results with limited daily supervision. You must also be well organised, with experience of managing your own territory effectively. Previous experience of managing relationships with affinity partners would also be beneficial.

As you would expect, you must have commercial insurance experience, including knowledge of the relevant covers. We welcome applications from general practitioners who can transact miscellaneous risks, as well as sector specialists who wish to build a team around specific niches such as Professions, Med Mal’ or Construction.
