As a Chartered Broker holding both Investors In People and ISO9001, this firm’s commitment to the highest standards of professionalism, staff development, internal processes and efficiencies is clear for all to see.

As a result of its highly polished approach to corporate insurance, it has enjoyed a sustained period of growth over the past decade and has positioned itself as one of the North West’s pre-eminent broking houses. It arranges the insurances of some of the region’s best-known companies, many with million-pound premium spends and complex global exposures.

The role of Technical Manager / Director is a new position within the company, and reflects its continued acquisition of quality accounts. Here, you will play a pivotal role in the smooth running of the Corporate Department, having some oversight of all the unit’s accounts. Whilst it is not a managerial position per se, you will be a senior member of the team and work in close conjunction with the Managing Director, so your successes will be highly visible to all. Whilst you will be encouraged to provide client facing staff with options to promote value-added ancillary covers, there is no personal sales/ development target in this role.

This is a challenging role that will appeal to corporate insurance professionals from a range of backgrounds who seek a varied role. As a real trouble shooter, when this firm needs its biggest broking guns rolled out, you will get the call; for example, helping Account Executives and Brokers with tricky renewals, or launching defensive exercises for those accounts under attack from competing firms. You will work with the senior team to help set forthcoming broking strategies and hold high level talks with insurers to work on shared campaigns and discuss prospect cases. For those clients whose LTA’s are coming to an end, you will seek to secure them for extended periods once more by drawing up attractive programmes that anticipate future exposures. With a number of this broking house’s clients growing at an impressive rate of knots, and diversifying into new sectors, we are particularly keen to speak to candidates who would like to explore captive arrangements.

It is essential that you have extensive corporate broking experience, including knowledge of all common commercial covers, and you must have put together bespoke insurance programmes for clients from a variety of industry sectors. It is essential that you are a shrewd negotiator with a sense of gravitas and authority, with a host of connections in the Manchester & North West underwriting market. It is anticipated that you will be ACII or FCII qualified, although we are happy to consider applications from outstanding candidates who have chosen not to pursue professional qualifications.

In return, you will receive a highly competitive salary (anticipated to be £40K - £55K, but completely negotiable), bonus and a comprehensive array of company benefits.
