As a result of this growth, the need has arisen for an additional Account Handler to join the Commercial Unit. Here, you will manage a portfolio of clients generating premiums between £10K-£100K, although for experienced candidates seeking a more challenging workload, the portfolio could be reallocated to allow you access to clients with premium spends up to and in excess of £250K. Clients are from a wide range of industries, such as Manufacturing, Wholesaling and the Professions.
Working in close conjunction with Senior Account Executives and the Company Directors, you will provide a high level of support on your portfolio. This will include, but by no means be limited to, preparing renewals, advising clients on their exposure to risks, and making suggestions on how to mitigate these, negotiating with insurers and helping less-experienced colleagues on an ad hoc basis.
As one would expect, experience of commercial or corporate broking is a prerequisite, and this should include exposure to a wide range of commercial covers. You should have excellent negotiation and communication (written and verbal) skills. You must be businesses-minded and aware of the risks that clients from a wide range of industry sectors face. It is anticipated, but by no means essential, that you have made progress towards professional qualifications.
In return, you can expect a generous basic salary anticipated to be £28K - £34K, although there is scope for negotiation for outstanding candidates. You will also be supported in your professional development, for example receiving a personal development plan to ensure your ambitions are achieved. Support towards qualifications under the Chartered Insurance Institute will also be offered.
