With charming offices in one of Oxford’s thriving main streets, this is an excellent place for a customer service-focused individual to forge a fascinating career within insurance.

Our client is a branch of a national insurance brokerage that offers a range of insurance solutions to both business and personal customers. It is well known for encouraging the career development of all its staff. Indeed, this role has only arisen due to one of the incumbent Account Handlers being promoted to Manager of a neighbouring branch.

Joining the Personal Lines Team, you will undergo extensive in-house training to develop an excellent understanding of such covers as Buildings, Contents, Motor and Travel Insurance. You will be dealing with customers face to face in the shop, over the phone and by email. You will take a detailed fact-find of their circumstances and then source them the most appropriate insurance cover at a competitive price. You will take detailed notes and ensure that policyholders’ records are updated accurately and documents are issued in a timely fashion. Needless to say, you will have to ensure that all your activities comply with FCA regulations, as well as in-house procedures and protocols. To maintain this firm’s outstanding levels of customer service, you will also be expected to study for qualifications under the Chartered Insurance Institute (our client will cover all associated costs).

Ideally, you will already be working in insurance, although we do welcome applications from candidates from other industries which offer transferable skills such as banking, mortgage broking or estate agency. To ensure that customers have appropriate insurance, it is essential that you have an inquisitive mind and ask probing questions that could highlight gaps in cover, or unearth cross-selling opportunities. In order to build rapport, you must have a flair for communication and excellent communication skills (written and verbal). You must also have a keen eye for detail and be meticulous in your approach.

Our client expects candidates to be willing to work approximately two Saturday mornings per month, although tries to be as flexible as possible to accommodate employees’ social commitments.

In return, you will receive a competitive basic salary of £16K - £25K (negotiable, depending on experience) and range of company benefits.
