The MD of this thriving broking house describes the difference between this exciting opportunity and that of other Contact Manager roles as being ‘far more involved, with much more influence on the direction of our business.’

Our client is a long-established broker that has a presence in several locations across the North, and this role is based in the thriving Leeds office which is designated as the UK’s ‘New Business Hub.’ As such, you will play a pivotal part in the development of the business’ new business strategy. Rather than simply passing leads onto unknown Account Executives, you will enjoy a high profile within the sales team, learning different colleagues’ strengths and specific areas of new business interest and advising them on the best way to target particular clients. You will also enjoy seeing the fruits of your labour converted, rather than having your leads ‘disappear into the ether’ as the Sales Team will report back directly on accounts won.

This is a senior role within the team, and this broker envisions building a team around you. Also, rather than simply ‘blasting through’ endless call lists, you will be encouraged to adopt a more measured and strategic approach. The focus here is very much on quality over quantity, and you will research prospects thoroughly before making an approach. Indeed, you will only be targeted on making 16 warm, qualified and well-researched appointments per month - far fewer than in competing, more volume orientated brokers. You will also be expected to work from this firm’s other offices on occasion, further increasing your profile within the company.

You will be responsible for utilising prospect databases, lapsed client lists, and your own initiative to generate new business leads and appointments on behalf of the Directors and Sales Team. To aid your colleagues, alongside establishing pertinent information regarding current insurance arrangements, premium size and claims history, you will use your charm to find out more about key decisions makers’ personalities and buying styles.

This broker is one of the country’s most prestigious independents. It has been trading for many years and several of its Senior Management Team joined the company in similar, relatively junior positions, and have risen through the ranks. As such, it has a demonstrable track record of rewarding hardworking and gifted staff with levels of progression that simply are not available at many competing firms.

The MD is keen to hear from candidates who can ‘bring something new to the table’. For example, they particularly welcome applications from entrepreneurial candidates with innovative ideas about marketing, PR initiatives and charity events. Other ways that you could look to promote the firm in the market could include reaching out to Affinity Partners, developing relationships with local media outlets and celebrities, or promoting social media accounts.
