Well respected, insurance broker based in Hempstead has a great opportunity for an experienced Commercial Claims Handler.
This organisation continues to expand due to organic growth and through strategic acquisitions, whilst carefully retaining its local business relationships and traditional values.
The office has circa 50 employees, with a small, yet experienced Claims Team of 4 professionals. You will be allocated your own clients, providing advice and on-going support from initial notification of loss through to final settlement. You will deal with an array of schemes and clients, working on a non-delegated authority basis, so it is imperative that you build effective relationships with insurers to ensure a smooth process through the lifecycle of each file. As you will be responsible for your own accounts where claims can be low in value/complexity, those files that are contentious or high in value will be escalated to your superior for review.
There is a genuine opportunity to progress from Claims Handler to Claims Executive, depending on your performance and commitment to your clients.
It is essential that you have a genuine passion for claims handling, and pride yourself on achieving the best possible settlement on behalf of your clients within the policy terms. As such, you must possess excellent communication and negotiation skills, and be able to manage claims in a fair and expedient manner. As well as keeping the clients abreast of their claims progress, you will be expected to attend regular claims reviews and provide your expert opinion on the best course of action to resolve claims.
It is essential that you have demonstrable experience of working in a commercial claims environment, ideally within broking, however applications from those individuals with insurance company or adjusting backgrounds are welcomed. Equally as important as experience, you must ensure that customer service is a priority, building mutually beneficial relationships. In addition, you will ideally have your Cert CII (as a minimum), however, if this is something you haven’t obtained, you will be expected to commence study upon appointment.
