One of the biggest and most prestigious names in the Yorkshire insurance market seeks an experienced Account Handler to join its friendly and supportive Commercial Team.

This firm is well known for encouraging the training and development of all its staff, and we can provide numerous examples of its employees who have joined in similar positions and risen through the ranks to senior broking, managerial or client-facing positions.

You will assume control of a varied portfolio of clients, spanning a range of industry sectors as Property Owners, Manufactures and Retail. The exact nature of your portfolio can be tweaked to suit your skills and experience, but clients are likely to vary in complexity and for more senior candidates, potentially include six figure premium spend accounts.

As such, this role will provide you with great exposure to the senior management team. You will provide day to day administrative support, which will include conducting extensive marketing exercises, negotiating and securing renewals, processing policy endorsements, and handing general client enquiries. You will enjoy handling a variety of commercial risks including Property, Liability, Motor Fleet and Financial Lines, to name but a few. Being an independent broker, you will be granted a high level of autonomy in relation to where you place business, and you will have the opportunity to attend some client visits in order strengthen key relationships.

It is essential that you have a good understanding of the main classes of commercial insurance, together with a strong level of market awareness. You must be well organised, with a keen eye for detail, and the ability to produce accurate work, whilst working under pressure. Ideally, you will have dealt with sizeable commercial risks, as opposed to simply micro-SME. Equally, progress made towards professional qualifications would certainly be advantageous, although not essential.

You will enjoy working for an extremely reputable brokerage, which is very committed to expansion, whilst it keeps traditional values at the heart of its business.
You will receive a competitive basic salary, a range of company benefits, and a structured career development plan.
