This firm is well known in the industry for offering superb opportunities for progression to all of its staff. Indeed, this position has arisen due to an incumbent member of the team being promoted to an Account Executive. Furthermore, all of its staff are encouraged to develop their technical skills through undertaking professional qualifications, attending CII lectures and going on training academies.
The Corporate Unit deals with accounts generating income of at least £10K, although most accounts typically produce several times this amount and, in some cases, six figure fee income. Accounts are from a wide range of industry sectors, with some clients being very well-known firms and a number that have exposures across the globe.
As a Corporate Account Handler, you will be responsible for assisting Corporate Account Executives and Directors with the management of their portfolios. This will include dealing with senior personnel at clients, building an understanding of their businesses in order to ascertain their exposures to risk, as well as making any necessary mid-term amendments. You will liaise with Underwriters in order to secure clients the most comprehensive covers at competitive premiums. You will also be tasked with writing reports, detailing your findings and recommendations.
Given the size of the clients to be dealt with, you must have excellent communication skills (written & verbal), and confidence in your ability to build a professional rapport with board level personnel at £10M+ turnover companies. You must have an inquisitive nature, be business-minded and enjoy problem solving. You will also be detail orientated, well-organised and meticulous in your approach.
It is by no means a prerequisite that you have dealt with corporate cases. Indeed, our client is refreshingly open minded about ‘seeing what’s out there’. As such, we welcome applications from Brokers and Account Handlers with experience of dealing with clients of all sizes, as long as they have experience of handling all common commercial covers, including Property, Liability, PI, D&O, Business Interruption, Combined and Motor Fleet etc. With this in mind, it is anticipated that you have made some progress towards professional qualifications, but this is not a ‘deal breaker’ for ambitious candidates who can demonstrate a willingness to learn ‘on the job’ and commence studies in the near future.
