“Certainly one of the most technically-orientated broking houses in the UK” is how one well-known composite insurer described this respected Scottish institution.

Having resisted the approaches of consolidators and networks, this broker is truly independent and committed to retaining its autonomy. It is enjoying a sustained period of growth and is on track to achieve 25% increase in total gross written premium in between now and 2020.

As a result of this organic growth, coupled with a number of high profile new business wins, the need has arisen to appoint a Senior Account Handler to join its Corporate Unit. This specialist team typically focuses on accounts that pay in excess of £15K commission and fee income, with many accounts generating many multiples of this. As one would expect, the Corporate Unit’s clients have complex insurance programmes with more than 10 policies each, and a number have global exposures.

As Corporate Account Handler, you will provide a high level of support to 3 Account Executives / Directors. This will include preparing pre-renewal reports, administering mid-term amendments, scrutinising clients’ current policies, and negotiating with Underwriters. Whilst there are no managerial responsibilities per se, as a senior member of the team, you will be expected to provide ad hoc support to less experienced colleagues, and can work towards more formal senior duties such as helping on training or deputising in the absence of the line manager.

This broker is rightly proud of its unique internal processes that ensures clients are comprehensively covered with all possible risks mitigated. As such, it is imperative that you share its meticulous approach, are task-orientated and have a keen eye for detail. It is also essential that you have significant experience within commercial broking, including knowledge of all common commercial covers and exposure to ‘bigger ticket’, corporate clients. It is envisioned that you are Cert CII qualified as a minimum and can demonstrate a genuine commitment to progressing further with professional qualifications, although this is by no means essential.

In return, you will receive a generous basic salary (completely negotiable, but anticipated to be £30-40K), and a competitive range of company benefits including support towards professional qualifications. You will also benefit from a friendly and supportive working environment, that includes a myriad of opportunities for progression and regular social events.
