The MD of this independent, provincial brokerage seeks an experienced Commercial Account Handler to assist in the running of his own portfolio of accounts.
The business prides itself on its technical expertise and in truly understanding the insurance requirements of its commercial customers. Although maintaining independent status, the company retains access to most specialist and general insurers allowing it to provide an outstanding service to its clients.
This brokerage is well known across Greater Manchester for its friendly and supportive office environment, where the Commercial Unit boasts incredibly low staff turnover. Indeed, this position has only arisen due to the incumbent Account Handler relocating away from Lancashire.
Here, you will assist the MD and, where necessary, Account Executives in the management of commercial accounts. This will include administration, dealing with mid-term adjustments, preparing with renewals and placing any new business cases won by colleagues. The portfolio will comprise clients from a range of industry sectors and depending on experience, include accounts generating £10-50K gross written premiums. For those candidates with experience of dealing with ‘bigger ticket’ clients, there is certainly scope to allow you to handle more complex, corporate covers.
It is essential that you have a strong track record within commercial broking and understand all common commercial covers, including but by no means limited to Property, Liability, Package, Commercial Combined, PI, D&O etc. You must be highly professional in your approach and have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. It is also a prerequisite that you are meticulous, thorough and take great pride in the quality of your work. Whilst not essential, progress made towards professional qualifications would add value to your application.
For the ambitious, the MD will provide ample opportunities to progress your career into more senior or client facing roles. Equally, he appreciates that not everyone will want to rise through the ranks, so you can also choose to remain in a position at this level for the foreseeable, and maybe revisit career options in the future. In either instance, you will be supported with the opportunity to pursue professional qualifications, attend CII lectures and insurer seminars, shadow colleagues on client visits, and generally develop your knowledge of the market.
You will receive a completely negotiable salary and a comprehensive range of company benefits.
