This well-respected broking house seeks to add technical fire power to its established Caterham office with the appointment of a heavy weight Commercial Account Handler.
It is truly an exciting time to be joining this prestigious firm as it continues to grow both by way of the acquisition of quality accounts and through the appointment of high calibre staff. Indeed, this position has arisen as a result of the Caterham branch’s portfolio swelling with additional accounts.
Working closely with Account Executives and Directors, you will assume control of the day to day management of a portfolio of accounts. Your clients will be from a variety of industry sectors, both blue and white collar, and many will be complex cases with premiums exceeding several hundred thousand pounds.
You will be responsible for administering mid-term adjustments, preparing reports and conducting renewal and marketing exercises. You will also be expected to lead broking campaigns for new business cases won by colleagues. In order to understate the risks faced by your clients and help design an insurance programme that mitigates against these, you will be encouraged to develop a deep understanding of all of the businesses in your portfolio, including attending site visits and the like. As one would expect, you will also be responsible for negotiating with Underwriters to obtain the most comprehensive cover at competitive premiums. As a senior member of the team, you will be expected to help less experienced colleagues and deputise in the absence of the Branch Manager. It is worth noting that this role could well evolve into a formal managerial position.
It is essential that you have a solid background within commercial broking, including a sound understanding of all common commercial covers. As you will be working on a number of projects, you will must be well organised and be able to prioritise an everchanging workload. You must be diligent, meticulous and have a keen eye for detail. You should also have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. It is anticipated that you will have made significant progress towards professional qualifications, although we do welcome applications from outstanding candidates who have chosen not pursue these.
