This forward-thinking brokerage is very much in expansion mode; it is enjoying double digit growth and continues to reinvest its profits in building its infrastructure. For example, it has state of the art IT systems, a sophisticated marketing department, and has been bestowed the prestigious ISO9001 award for its quality management systems.
Having recently appointed additional headcount in the Broking Unit, it now seeks to employ another Commercial / Corporate Account Executive to join the team. Here, the Managing Director is famed for ‘playing the long game’, rather than putting Exec’s under undue pressure to get in a profit-making situation in the first 12-18 months; he focuses on meaningful and sustainable growth and accordingly affords quality operators the freedom and time to do what they do best. As an example, the MD is quite clear that you are expected to honour your covenant with your current employer as, if you are good enough, a portion of your old account will follow in time.
You will have access to the full range of composite insurers, specialist carriers and bespoke schemes. As such, this brokerage is geared up to transact ‘miscellaneous commercial’ risks as well as develop specialist accounts from niche sectors. It tends to focus on cases generating in excess of £5K commission / fee income, and whilst the majority of its accounts are much larger than this it will, understandably, look at some smaller, well-managed business. Policy administration and broking support will be provided by a dedicated Account Handler and you will also benefit from the services of an in-house Telesales Executive who will work in a lead generation and appointment setting capacity.
It is essential that you have a demonstrable track record of success as a Commercial Account Executive. You must be au-fait with all common commercial covers and ideally have made progress towards professional qualifications under the CII. You must be business-minded and be able to, with the support of the MD, draw up a business plan highlighting how you will add value to the firm over the medium to longer term. As you would expect, you must be an excellent communicator who is comfortable trading and negotiating with insurers and clients alike.
In return, you will receive a generous basic salary that is completely negotiable. You will also receive a bonus, car / allowance and a comprehensive range of company benefits, including support towards professional qualifications.
