This exciting, newly formed role was created by one of this broking house’s Directors. As such, you will benefit from working in close conjunction with one of the brightest insurance minds of the local market and enjoy a high profile within the business.
This successful brokerage has a fine reputation in the local market; it is well-known for offering its staff bespoke training and development programmes, and structured opportunities for professional development. It has committed to delivering the highest levels of client service, and has been awarded Chartered status by the CII.
This firm has several divisions dealing with a wide variety of insurance clients, from the private client accounts of high net worth individuals through to arranging the insurance programmes of well-known international companies. This role sits within the thriving SME Team, who typically deal with clients paying premiums of £5K - £50K.
As Desk-Top Account Executive, you will be responsible for the management and development of a portfolio of accounts. You will be responsible for maintaining relationships with clients throughout the policy lifecycle, including administering any mid-term amendments and preparing for renewals. You will also be provided with warm leads from key introducers, and be expected to convert these accounts too, as well as cross-sell ancillary products to your existing accounts. Clients will be from a wide range of industries, although this firm is recognised as the preferred broker for several governing bodies, so there will be a slight bias towards a couple of sectors in which this intermediary has a particularly strong presence.
It is essential that you have a solid background in commercial insurance, including a knowledge of all common commercial covers (Property, Liability, Commercial Combined, Package, Financial Lines etc.). As you would expect, you must have excellent communication skills, and be confident in your ability to build a professional rapport with clients and prospects over the phone. You must have a “trader’s mentality”, be enthusiastic, with a strong sense of energy and a passion for negotiating. You must be commercially-minded with a genuine curiosity about what ‘makes businesses tick’ and a willingness to ask relevant questions to understand clients’ exposure to risk.
Given this firm’s demonstrable track record of promoting from within, and that it has a significant team of more traditional Account Executives, this role will certainly appeal to the ambitious. It is completely feasible that in the medium term you could be dealing with larger and more complex clients on a face-to-face basis. Alongside unrivalled opportunities for development, you will benefit from a generous basic salary (completely negotiable but anticipated to be to circa £30K), performance-related bonus, company benefits and free on-site parking. You will also receive support towards professional qualifications under the CII.
