This Leeds based business, with an enviable reputation, is looking to appoint a Commercial Manager to lead and develop its team.

Our client, a £25m GWP broker, has enjoyed unprecedented success over the last few years and has doubled in size. This employee-focused firm is confident in achieving the same level of growth over the next three years, which gives its staff superb opportunities to progress their careers.

Reporting to the MD, you will be responsible for the strategic direction of the team of 9 Account Executives and ensuring that your business plan is achieved. You will ensure that staff are achieving their targets in line with portfolio growth plans through coaching, training and mentoring, getting them to buy into your methods. You will also be responsible for the management of some of the firm’s largest clients, with a strong emphasis on their retention, where you will be the ‘face of the business’ for these key accounts. You will also be expected to visit new clients generated through referrals/ recommendations to help the team with income growth and show your subordinates best practice. You’ll be given quite a lot of freedom in your role to get things done; once you have agreed your plan with the MD, he will give you the autonomy to run with it as you see fit, as long as you are achieving your objectives.

We are looking for either a candidate in a similar role that is looking for a new challenge, or someone who is ready for the next step, who may possibly be being held back within their current company. You must have a vast knowledge of commercial insurance products, with a proven track record of delivering against targets. Ideally, you will have a background in developing staff, or at least mentoring more junior members of staff, together with a good understanding of how to grow a team. Candidates with professional insurance qualifications would be preferred, although this is not essential.

With it being more important to secure the right candidate, the remuneration package will be designed to ‘attract the best.’ This is the main area of growth for this business over the next few years, and therefore should you make a real success of this position, you will be handsomely rewarded.
