This is a truly exciting time to be joining one of the biggest names in the Yorkshire broking community, as it continues grow both in terms of premium size and the acquisition of high-quality personnel.

This broker is known for promoting from within and offering its staff a wide variety of opportunities for progression. Indeed, the incumbent Account Handler has been promoted into a new, more IT-related position within the group!

The Commercial and Corporate Teams deal with clients generating commissions in excess of £5K, and typically up to fees of circa £50K. Clients are from a ‘mixed bag’ of industry sectors, such as IT, Manufacturing, Engineering and Retail. It is envisioned that alongside the maintenance of your own portfolio of clients, you will also be actively involved in the marketing of new accounts won by colleagues in the Sales Teams.

You will be responsible for managing relationships with key personnel from your accounts, keeping abreast of developments in their businesses and ensuring that their insurance programmes reflect their appetite to risk. Where gaps in cover do exist, you should seek to grow accounts by promoting relevant covers. You will help Account Executives with renewals, and prepare a variety of market reports / documentation as and when required. You will also use your negotiation skills and gravitas with insurers to secure the most comprehensive cover and competitive premiums on behalf of your clients.

It is essential that you have previous experience of working in a commercial broking environment, and a sound working knowledge of all common covers. You will also have excellent communication, administrative and organisational skills. Mindful that this Commercial Department is a happy and ‘well run ship’, it is essential that you are down to earth, a friendly team player and by no means ‘high maintenance.’ Whilst not essential, you will ideally have made progress towards professional qualifications.

As the business is performing so tremendously, it can accommodate experienced Account Handlers at several levels, including senior roles within the team; helping to oversee less-experienced team members. The salaries on these positions are completely negotiable, but anticipated to be in the region of £25,000 - £32,500 and £30,000 - £37,500 respectively. Our client is based close to the motorway network and main arterial roads, and with its free on-site parking, this makes a feasible commute for candidates from across West & South Yorkshire, and into Lancashire.
