Our client is a boutique broking house, established in the UK for less than a decade, but part of a much larger institution with a significant global presence. The London operation is outperforming all expectations, and as a result, seeks an additional member of staff to join the management team.
This is a challenging, hybrid position encompassing both the placement of risks and also assisting with the smooth running of the business (operations, stakeholder management, helping oversee compliance etc). With a flat management structure, you will be granted a great deal of autonomy with regards to how you operate - conducting each element of the job as you see fit. As one of the most senior employees in the UK operation, you may be expected to visit overseas offices in the first few months of your tenure.
The majority of the risks placed will be Casualty-orientated, but there will also be some exposure to other lines (such as Property and Marine). As such, you must have relevant product experience, be well-networked in the City, with a strong knowledge of what markets are appropriate and which Underwriters have appetites for specific risks.
You must also have excellent communication skills and be able to build a professional rapport with colleagues, clients and other stakeholders. You should also be well-organised, able to work under pressure, and be confident in your ability to meet deadlines. Previous exposure to working in a managerial capacity is by no means essential, but would certainly add weight to your application.
In return, you will receive a basic salary (entirely negotiable but anticipated to be circa £50K), bonus and comprehensive company benefits. Needless to say, there are fantastic opportunities for progression as the company continues to thrive in the UK.
