An ambitious and entrepreneurial insurance broker is looking for a driven, career-focused commercial insurance professional for a unique and exciting opportunity as a Trainee Account Executive in Leeds.

You will support a Senior Account Executive in delivering new business through warm referrals, as well as ensuring that existing clients are retained. It will be expected that you will also place the business in the market with the insurers and confirm cover to the client. Initially, you will be dealing with circa £5K - £30K premium cases across a range of commercial insurances, where you will predominantly be desk-based, dealing with clients over the phone. However, you will also be accompanying the Senior Account Executives on meetings in order to gain exposure to face to face advice, with a view to you eventually going out on your own. All leads are provided via referrals, networking events, from an external lead generation company, or internal cross-selling, and therefore there is absolutely NO COLD CALLING!
This is an excellent opportunity for an Account Handler who is looking for exposure to the new business process, who ultimately wishes to become a fully-fledged Account Executive, but without the burden of having to self-generate new business through cold calling.
It is essential that you have commercial insurance experience from a broking environment, and that you understand the process of placing business with the insurers compliantly. You will be eager to learn and be able to ‘soak up’ information relatively quickly, as well as being comfortable with learning on a one-to-one basis. Finally, you will have a passion for building relationships and confidence in your ability to communicate effectively with individuals at all levels. You will not be afraid to ask for business once the right proposition has been presented to your clients.
