As Head of Insurance & Risk, you will own insurance from a product perspective. This will include monitoring and refining the insurance book, and adjusting underwriting processes and criteria to deliver heightened profitability. You will also play a key part in the development of ancillary products that are already in the pipeline (such as tyre / scratch insurance, or excess waiver).
As you would expect, you will own the relationship with the insurance company, collaborating with them at a number of levels; exploring innovative new products, adjusting the existing book, ensuring that both parties continue to adhere to SLA’s.
In addition to overseeing the management a small team of tech’ orientated insurance professionals, you will also be responsible for managing the compliance monitoring plan and ensuring that all contractual / regulatory obligations are adhered to.
It is essential that you have extensive knowledge of the UK personal lines market, with particular reference to motor insurance. Ideally this will come from an underwriting background, giving you the ability to add real value when looking at adjusting the current rates, pricing strategy and acceptance criteria. Whilst you need not have worked within a claims team per se, you must have an understanding of insurance company’s claims processes and philosophies.
Ideally, you will also have worked for an InsurTech / FinTech organisation, or can demonstrate a sound understanding of the market. Equally, exposure to launching new products would add weight to your application. We are particularly keen to hear from candidates who possess that curious blend of being both highly analytical and detail-orientated, whilst being entrepreneurial, seeing the bigger picture, and being able to thrive in an atmosphere of ambiguity and often quickly-changing priorities!
