Our client is a leading insurer that is looking for an Assistant Marine Underwriter to join its fantastic team in Leeds.

You will be supporting a team of technical Underwriters dealing with Cargo & Freight business, who trade with brokers across Yorkshire and the North East. You will handle premium levels dependent on your experience, although you will be given the necessary training to deal with larger cases in due course. You’ll enjoy working alongside some of the most talented Marine specialists in the market, who will support your ongoing professional development, and you will have exposure to a wide range of business, including some of the most coveted Marine accounts.
You’ll be measured against your ability to pick up product areas, if you have no experience in this field, as well as the strength of the relationships you build, both internally and externally.
Ideally, you will have experience of handling Marine insurance from either an insurer or broker environment. However, candidates that have insurance experience from other product lines, who have a desire to move into this niche area, will be considered. Just as importantly, you will possess a trader’s mentality and a genuine passion for retaining and securing profitable new business. As expected with this type of role, you must be able to display good attention to detail, strong organisational skills, and the ability build and maintain strong working relationships.
