Recognised as one of the best corporate insurance broking teams in the north of England, there can be few better places for relatively junior insurance professionals to progress their career, than this global broking house.

Staffed by some of the most gifted insurance minds in the Newcastle market, this is certainly a superb opportunity to ‘learn from the best’. Here, you will be dealing with a diverse portfolio of challenging and demanding risks, including some clients with complex global exposures.

You will be providing a high level of broking and administrative support to Corporate Account Executives and Handlers. This will include dealing with clients and insurers, for example chasing them for information, answering day to day questions about insurance programmes and dealing with credit control queries. As your knowledge and confidence builds, so will the scope of responsibilities – indeed many of this business’s most senior colleagues have joined in a similar capacity and risen through the ranks.

Whilst this is an entry level corporate insurance role, it is essential that you have some experience of commercial insurance, an appreciation of the insurance industry (such as the relationship between Brokers, the insured, Underwriters and other stakeholders) and an understanding of the various different commercial covers. Ideally this will have been gained in an insurance broking environment, but we also welcome applications from outstanding candidates who have worked within commercial underwriting.

Meticulous in your approach and with superb attention detail, you will pride yourself on the quality of all the work you undertake. You must be well organised with excellent time management skills and able to juggle a fluctuating workload. You must be highly numerate, with good IT skills and excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. As you will be dealing with senior personnel from some very large businesses, you must be articulate and confident building a sound professional rapport with people from all walks of life. Ideally you will have strong academic qualifications and have made some progress towards professional qualifications, although we will consider applications from those candidates who have not always excelled in education, but tick all the other boxes.

In return, you will receive a first-rate education of the corporate insurance market including the opportunity to shadow colleagues on client visits, play a part in the local insurance community (including attending CII seminars and lectures) and spend time understanding different insurance companies’ offerings. You will also benefit from a generous basic salary, company benefits and support towards professional qualifications. You will also receive an array of opportunities for development that are virtually unrivalled in the North East insurance market, for example you could progress to Technical, Managerial or Business Development positions, or relocate to other offices – across the globe!
