If you have well-honed managerial skills, coupled with a flair for corporate risks, and are seeking a challenging new role, then look no further! In this key hire, this global broking house seeks to add additional ‘fire power’ to both its broking operations and management team.

The office controls the insurance programmes of some of the largest and most high-profile firms based in South West England and across Wales, including FTSE 100 organisations and some of the UK’s best-known privately-owned businesses. Its portfolio includes firms from a range of industry sectors (Life Sciences, Ports, Media / Tech, to name but a few) and as you would expect, many have complex global exposures. It also looks after the UK elements of programmes for clients who are domiciled across the globe, working in conjunction with colleagues and partner brokers from as far afield as Germany, the Far East and the States.

Here, you will assume control of a team of Corporate Account Handlers, including both relative ‘rising stars’ of the industry and seasoned veterans recognised across the region as the best in the business. You will be responsible for ensuring this close-knit team continues to operate as the proverbial well-oiled machined, including allocating workloads and acting as technical referral point. You will be in regular contact with the branch’s Account Executives and Directors to ensure that a seamless level of client service is delivered. You will also work with colleagues from other areas of the business (including specialist brokers, internationally) to ensure that clients benefit from all this global’s expertise across niche insurance disciplines – such as Aviation, Political Risk or Trade Credit. You will also act as the Lead Account Handler / Broker on a specific allocation of accounts - likely to include the portfolio’s more complex cases. As you would expect, as a member of the Management Team, you will be involved in insurer relations, design placement strategy, be involved in a variety of interesting projects, and generally have a significant say in the future direction of the branch.

It is essential that you have extensive knowledge of insurance broking, including a detailed understanding of all common commercial covers. This experience should also include extensive exposure to corporate risks; whilst this department deals with many clients paying fees between £50-100K it does welcome applications from candidates who are currently dealing with cases around the £15-20K mark who are confident in their ability to step into the premier league. Equally, whilst it is envisioned that you will have made significant progress towards professional qualifications, we are happy to hear from outstanding candidates who have chosen not to pursue these. We welcome applications from candidates who meet the above criteria, who are either working in a managerial capacity, or those who are in a deputy manager style role (for example Senior Handlers who deputise in the absence of the Line Manager).
