The MD of this Chartered broking house seeks a dedicated Corporate Account Manager to handle the portfolio of the branch’s Directors.

This is a fantastic time to be joining the business, as not only is the Account Executive Team continuing to deliver record new business figures, but the portfolio is being swollen further due to a number of big-ticket clients being reallocated to this branch.

Reporting directly to the MD, and assuming day to day management of the portfolios of several Directors, you will benefit from a high profile in the business, and as such, your successes will be immediately obvious to all.

You will be dealing with a wide variety of clients such as Media, HVAC, Tech, and Logistics & Distribution. Clients will vary in size and complexity, from relatively straight forward £5K commission cases through to six figure fee income cases from the worlds of Pharmaceuticals and Construction. As you would expect, some of these cases have complex global exposures.

You will be responsible for administering mid-term adjustments, preparing reports, and conducting renewal and marketing exercises. You will also be expected to lead broking campaigns for new business cases won by the Directors. In order to understate the risks faced by your clients and help design an insurance programme that mitigates against these, you will be encouraged to develop a deep understanding of all of the businesses in your portfolio, including attending site visits and the like. As one would expect, you will also be responsible for negotiating with Underwriters to obtain the most comprehensive cover at competitive premiums. As a senior member of the team, you will be expected to help less-experienced colleagues on an ad hoc-basis and deputise in the absence of the line manager.

It is essential that you have a solid background within commercial broking, including a sound understanding of all common commercial covers, with particular reference to Casualty, Motor Fleet and Professional Indemnity. As you will be working on a number of projects, you will must be well-organised and be able to prioritise an ever changing workload. You must be diligent, meticulous and have a keen eye for detail. You should also have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. Ideally, you will have experience of handling global insurance programmes. It is anticipated that you will have made significant progress towards professional qualifications, although we do welcome applications from outstanding candidates who have chosen not pursue these.

Given the nature of some of the accounts handled, it is essential that you have an abundance of personality and can get on with people from all walks of life – wall flowers need not apply! You must be ‘on the ball’ and prepared to have difficult conversations with clients in order to ensure their programmes remain suited to their needs. As such, you must have excellent questioning skills, to identify gaps in cover and the like.

In return, you will receive a generous basic salary that is completely negotiable, and a comprehensive range of company benefits, including support towards CII exams. As mentioned earlier, ambitious candidates will be particularly interested to learn about the array of opportunities for progression that are sure to arise in the near future.
