This Chartered broking house is forging a fine reputation in the fascinating Life Science & Pharmaceutical insurance niche, and as a result, has been appointed on a number of large cases within the sector.

Due to the continued acquisition of quality accounts, the need has arisen for a Corporate Account Manager to join the team in a senior capacity. Many of the Life Science & Pharma accounts sit within the Managing Director’s personal portfolio, so this is a highly visible role where your success will be visible to all.

Recognised as a market-leader in your sector, you will help establish a sense of gravitas, authority and expertise to all the firm’s activities within the Life Science sector. This will include high level insurer interaction (establishing which carriers have appetites for specific niches, working with BDM’s to target specific cases etc), educating colleagues as to the nuances of the sector, and help promote the brokerage within the industry.

Clients within the branch’s portfolio vary in size and complexity, with some large cases approaching six figure fee income, and include accounts from across the sector. You will be responsible for developing a sound professional rapport with key personnel from all the branch’s Life Science & Pharma clients, as well as building a deep understanding of the issues that affect their businesses. You will help design a bespoke insurance programme that mitigates their exposure in line with each client’s appetite for risk, negotiating with insurers in order to achieve comprehensive cover at competitive premiums.

It is essential that you have a comprehensive knowledge of the Life Science insurance market, along with an understanding of associated sectors (Pharmaceutical, Petrochemical etc), and the relevant covers used within these. This experience may have been gained in either an underwriting or broking environment. Whilst by no means essential, progress made towards professional qualifications under the CII would add significant weight to your application.

As you will be working on a number of projects, cases and broking assignments, you must be well-organised and able to prioritise an ever-changing workload. You should also be diligent, meticulous and have a keen eye for detail. As you would expect, you should have excellent communication skills (written and verbal), and be able to work in close quarters with both internal and external stakeholders.

In return, you will receive a generous basic salary (completely negotiable but anticipated to be in the region of £45K), and an impressive range of company benefits, including support towards professional qualifications.
