In this challenging position, you will assume overall responsibility for Cyber Insurance underwriting processes within the Chelmsford branch of this global insurance brand.

Our client is a well-known name in the world of insurance, with 50,000 employees being based in over 100 territories around the globe. It is known for it being an equal opportunities employer that celebrates diversity and inclusion, and has a refreshingly open approach to flexible working (which includes remote working and offering reduced hours).

As Senior Cyber Underwriter you will be responsible for underwriting (new business, renewals and administering mid-terms) your own caseload, typically comprising the more challenging and technical accounts in the branch. You will also be responsible for providing guidance, training and advice on any underwriting issues to direct reports.

In addition, as a senior member of the team, you will help educate all colleagues as to the nuances of the Cyber insurance market, both during formal training and also on an ad-hoc basis. You will also manage relations with insurers at a senior level, for example undertaking regular meetings to review facilities, set strategy and understand their risk appetite.

You will ensure all work is carried out in a diligent and timely fashion that complies with various FCA and inhouse regulations, for example meeting service standards to bind risks, and operating within the limits of your delegated authority.

Ideally, you will be an experienced Senior Cyber Underwriter, although we do welcome applications from experienced candidates from other areas of Financial Lines such as D&O and Financial Institutions. As you would expect, you will be analytical, highly numerate and have excellent numerical skills.

You will also be an effective people manager with a proven track record of motivating, coaching and developing your colleagues. This should also include being an enthusiastic team player who can build positive relationships, as well as the ability to motivate and inspire your colleagues to deliver excellent client service and to be the best that they can be.

Alongside a highly competitive basic salary, pension and 25 days holiday, you will have the opportunity to tailor your package to suit your needs, such as choosing additional benefits such as added healthcare or additional holiday allowance.
