This Branch Director’s vision for the future of this global’s Leeds operation is infectious; there is a clear strategy in place, every single business activity is centred around delivering excellent client service, and yet again, the branch close to delivering double-digit growth for the year.
This business controls one of the region’s largest portfolios, with clients spanning an array of sectors from Life Sciences and Tech, through to big names from the worlds of Logistics & Distribution. Clients vary in size and complexity, from smaller, but prized accounts paying fees of £15K, through to blue-chip PLC’s with turnovers in the billions.
This is a superb opportunity for an ‘up and coming’ insurance professional to join one of the region’s most respected and gifted broking teams. Indeed, this role is all the rarer, as not only are opportunities to inherit such large portfolios few and far between, but as the incumbent Account Director is retiring, you will benefit from a lengthy (circa 6 month) handover period, and the clients will not be ‘under attack’ from a ‘resurfacing’ A/E.
The Branch Director is not necessarily looking for a ‘dyed in the wool’ Account Executive, and whilst we are certainly keen to hear from seasoned corporate players from the globals, we also welcome candidates from regional and national intermediaries, along with Underwriters who are keen to step into the premier league of global broking.
This role offers a well-defined career path; joining as Corporate Account Executive, you will receive a warm introduction to the portfolio, with a view to assuming the title and responsibilities of ‘Account Director’ once you have developed a detailed understanding of the clients and the industries in which they operate.
The Branch Director explains that ‘future ability is more important than current technical skills’. You must be bright, naturally curious, and able to understand the complexities of clients from range of industries, many of which will have complex global exposures. Whilst not a deal breaker, it is anticipated that you will hold strong academics, and ideally a degree in relevant subject such as Business, Law or Accountancy. Likewise, you will ideally have made some progress towards professional qualifications under the CII, or can demonstrate a genuine commitment to doing so.
You should be confident in your approach, with excellent communication and stakeholder management skills. As you would expect, you will be well-organised, meticulous and take great pride in the quality of your work.
With such a wide brief, the Branch Director is completely open to the salary on offer; suffice to say that, knowing the best candidates are often well looked after and not ‘actively looking’, he is more than happy to offer a package that can turn the heads of the most content of employees. Furthermore, he will offer the chance to accelerate your career with superb opportunities for personal development and progression. Put simply, this is an opportunity that ambitious insurance professionals cannot afford to ignore.
