This long-established broker is well respected in the business and agricultural communities of Powys, Cheshire, Shropshire and the surrounding areas. It has crafted a fine reputation for delivering the highest level of service and innovative solutions for its clients across the region.

Due to the continued acquisition of quality accounts, the need has arisen for an established Account Executive to join the team and assume control of a varied portfolio of accounts. This client list can be tweaked to meet the successful candidate’s skills, experiences and ambitions, but it is likely to stand at circa £140K brokerage, and be split roughly equally between commercial and agricultural accounts. The commercial portfolio comprises accounts from a wide range of industry sectors, both blue and white collar, and includes several cases generating £10K income. The agricultural portfolio includes significant exposure to Dairy and Poultry risks, as well as estates and farms that have diversified into the Renewable sector.

You will be tasked with building a strong rapport with key personnel at this longstanding portfolio of clients, developing a sound understanding of their current insurance programme, coupled with their exposure and appetite for risk. You will keep in touch with your clients throughout the policy life cycle, making sure that they are happy with the service offered and that as their businesses change and develop, these risks are appropriately mitigated. You will benefit from working in close conjunction with a talented a dedicated team of Account Handlers who will assist you in preparing documentation, helping with renewals and making mid-term amendments on your behalf.

Ideally, you will have exposure to both commercial and agricultural insurance (gained at either a broker or insurer), although we welcome applications from candidates who have worked in just one of these disciplines but can demonstrate a genuine commitment to learning the nuances of the other area of insurance. You must have excellent communication skills (both written and verbal), be confident in your approach and, given the diverse portfolio, be able to get on with people from all walks of life – from the landed gentry through to smallholders, solicitors and motor traders. Progress made towards professional qualifications would add value to your application but this is by no means is a deal breaker.

Whilst it is important to stress that the focus on this job is very much on the management of existing accounts, it is worth noting that this role offers one of the most impressive bonus schemes that we have seen in some time: to reward longstanding staff, you will receive a significant percentage of any account growth in the form of an increase in your basic salary. This means that the anticipated starting salary of ‘early to mid-forty thousands’ could easily swell to closer to £60K within a couple of years. You will also benefit an impressive array of company benefits including pension, car / allowance and support towards professional memberships.
