“We’re building something really quite compelling here”, says the MD of this global’s Corporate Practice. He goes on to say, “there’s a great team spirit, a real focus on quality, and a sense of pride in what we’re achieving.” Having handsomely exceeded its target of double-digit growth (fee income), this sense of unity and client-centric approach is clearly paying dividends.

Due to internal promotion, a superb new opportunity has arisen on the management team of this high performing Corporate Practice. Here, you will assume control of the leadership of 10 high calibre Corporate Account Executives, including rising stars who are starting to forge fantastic careers, and seasoned veterans who have been at the top of their game for several decades.

Each member of the team typically controls a portfolio delivering £500K in fee income, and individual clients typically generate fees between £50K-100K. The branch portfolio comprises accounts from a wide range of industry sectors, such as Technology, Life Sciences, Automotive and Financial Institutions. As you would expect, these include well-known, blue chip companies including FTSE 100’s. Many of these are UK domiciled clients with extensive multinational programmes, and there are also a number of reverse flow accounts pertaining to very large global institutions, including some of the world’s biggest brands.

The team’s focus is very much on the management and growth of their existing portfolio (rather than the acquisition of further accounts), and you will play a key part in ensuring each client receives an unrivalled level of service. This will include working with colleagues from all areas of the business (Financial & Professional Risks, Energy, Credit Insurance etc.) to ensure that clients benefit from the vast array of tools at this global behemoth’s disposal. You will help with the training and development of all colleagues, ensuring that the more junior A/E’s fulfil their potential, and that the more experienced remain challenged and motivated to continually better themselves and the service they deliver to clients.

As a member of the Management Team, yours will be a highly visible role where you will have a real say in the future strategy of the Corporate Broking Practice. You will be involved in a number of exciting projects within the team, and also help manage relationships with a range of internal and external stakeholders.

To ensure that your ‘client skills’ remain up to date, it is likely that you will also assume control of a small portfolio of accounts, with individual clients reflecting the average account as outlined above in terms of size and breadth of sector.

It is worth noting that the MD takes a refreshingly modern stance to the office environment and encourages remote working and a ‘family friendly’ approach, where you are not tied to a desk and as such, doing the ‘school run’ is completely feasible.

Whilst it is likely that you will be currently working in a Team Leader style role, our client welcomes applications from outstanding candidates who have some supervisory experience, such as being an Assistant Team Leader, undertaking a secondment, or deputising in the absence of a line manager.

What is essential is that you can demonstrate superb leadership skills, the gravitas to secure buy-in from colleagues and clients alike, and the confidence and communication skills to tackle difficult situations and conversations in a professional, mature, and client-centric fashion.

Equally, it is not essential that you have previously handled six-figure income cases. However, you must have previously handled a number of corporate cases generating circa £25K commission / fee income and above. This must include dealing with clients from a range of industry sectors, and being comfortable with all commercial covers. Ideally, this will be coupled with progress made towards professional qualifications under the Chartered Insurance Institute.

In return, you will receive a completely negotiable basic salary, bonus and car / allowance. This broker operates an impressive array of ‘flexible benefits’ that can be tweaked to suit your personal circumstances. The ambitious will be pleased to learn that the MD is well-known in the industry for supporting members of his team to achieve their business and personal goals, and many previous members of this team have gone on to enjoy superb careers across the group.
