A market-leading insurer is looking to appoint an experienced Commercial Underwriter as a result of ongoing expansion.
This business offers a wide range of competitive products via the intermediary channel, boasts an incredibly driven and ambitious management team, and grants its Underwriters a high level of autonomy and decision-making power.
You will play an integral role in servicing the needs of a large portfolio of commercial brokers throughout the UK. You will predominantly be dealing with Commercial Combined cases, as well as some PI business. You will closely monitor risks to ensure their continued acceptability, applying terms as necessary, in order to meet departmental and underwriting objectives. Additional responsibilities will include providing risk management and risk prevention advice, whilst establishing and developing business relationships with intermediaries. You will participate in regular team meetings, providing feedback to senior management, in order to maximise team performance and improve the overall awareness of market conditions. You will also be involved with driving the business forward, promoting the company through attendance at regional meetings, broker inductions and broker visits.
My client is willing to consider candidates from either a Property, Liability or Commercial Combined underwriting background. Exposure to underwriting professional indemnity (PI) insurance would also be advantageous, although this is by no means essential as training will be provided. It is extremely important that you have the confidence to promote the company and its diverse range of products and added-value services, as well as showing commitment to progressing your ongoing personal development. You must also be assertive, with the ability to use your own initiative and technical underwriting expertise, in order to make effective and informed decisions.
