This long-established broker is well-respected across Wales and the West of England, where it has crafted a fine reputation for delivering the highest levels of service and innovative solutions for its clients across the region. In more recent years, it has started to expand in to Cheshire and the surrounding areas. Its ‘client centric’ approach has been welcomed by the local business community, and it is now recognised as the ‘go to’ broker from clients across a range of industry sectors.
As a result of the continued acquisition of quality accounts, the firm is looking to capitalise on its burgeoning profile in the area by appointing an additional Account Executive to the team. Here, you will inherit a small to medium-sized portfolio of existing accounts, with a view to retaining and growing this, both organically through cross and up-selling, as well as through new business production.
The portfolio includes clients from a wide section of industries, from agri-related risks through to property owners and manufactures, and they vary in size and complexity. You will be encouraged to grow this account however you see fit, both in terms of target clients (size & industry) and how you go about attracting these – seeking recommendations from your network, referrals from the existing portfolio, attending networking events etc. You will receive a great deal of support in the management and growth of your account, through the support of the talented Broking and Marketing Teams. The local Director is particularly keen to hear from enthusiastic insurance professionals who have innovative suggestions of new sectors they can target, or ideas for working with insurers on specific kinds of risks.
The ideal candidate will be currently working as a Commercial Account Executive, although we welcome applications from Account Handlers who have some client-facing experience and are seeking to make their first move into an external role. You will be au fait with all common commercial covers, and as you will be dealing with clients from all industry sectors, you’ll have the ability to work with people from all walks of life. You must be a real ‘trader’ who is able to identify commercial opportunities (such as gaps in cover or potential partnerships) with strong communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills. Whilst not essential, you will ideally have made some progress towards professional qualifications under the Chartered Insurance Institute.
In return, you will receive a generous (and completely negotiable) basic salary, a comprehensive range of company benefits (including paid professional memberships) and a bonus that essentially means a significant percentage of any growth of your account goes onto your basic in perpetuity (rather than a one-off bonus). This means that development-orientated Account Executives, especially ones who are confident of transferring a portion of their current portfolio post-covenant, can be earning very high basic salaries in just a couple of years.
