The Manchester branch, which for a number of years has acted as the Regional HQ for this global broker’s Wholesale Division, has recently moved into state of the art offices next to Piccadilly Station. Its Management Team includes some of the highest profile and best-connected insurance professionals in the market, and the firm is recognised as the ‘go to’ Wholesale Broker for many smaller brokers across the UK regions that are struggling to place business directly.
You will be responsible for the placement of a range of commercial business including Commercial Combined, Liability, Professional Indemnity and Medical Malpractice covers. You will be dealing with a variety of broking houses that do not have accesses to Lloyd’s and specialist markets, and you’ll be responsible for obtaining cover on their behalf. This will include building and maintaining relationships with personnel at new and existing brokers, educating them as to your wholesale offering, and discussing forthcoming cases that they may need some assistance with.
As you would expect, you will be responsible for the creation of accurate and compliant documentation and reports in a timely fashion. This will include producing submissions for the market, and issuing quotations for new and renewal business. You will also be expected to attend face to face meetings with a variety of stakeholders.
Ideally, you will have experience of working in a wholesale capacity, but we are more than willing to consider those candidates from a more general commercial account handling / broking background, who can demonstrate a willingness to move into the sector. You must also be enthusiastic and enjoy working in a fast-paced environment, displaying an appetite to keep abreast of changes in this rapidly changing market. Needless to say, in order to secure the most comprehensive cover at competitive premiums and build rapport with clients and insurers, you must have strong communication and negotiation skills.
In return, you will receive a generous basic salary (completely negotiable, but anticipated to be around £40K), plus bonus and comprehensive benefits package.
